This website is devoted mainly to my publications and media contacts, although you'll also see some of my artwork (which shows my lighter side) and informational pages. However, it uses javascript for navigation and popups windows in the FAQ section of the site. If you want to read them, you may need to disable your popup blocker. (It's safe. My site does not have popup advertising.) It is optimized for Internet Explorer and works for Netscape. However, it has recently come to my attention that Firefox users can only access 2 of the 3 tiers of the dropdown menu. You can still find the missing pages on the menu and access them through the direct hyperlinks on the site-map. Site-map hyperlinks appear on every page (except the image galleries) to your right.

I created the image of three flames emerging from the psi symbol as a metaphor for parapsychology. I like it. The image speaks the three-prong effort by parapsychologists to enlighten ourselves and others about the three fields we study: ESP, mind-matter interaction, and the survival of bodily death. Although I also talk here about myself andwhat I've done in terms of books, articles, and artwork, a large chunk of this site is also devoted to providing information and resources about the field of parapsychology. You'll find much of this in the help & resources section, where the FAQ pages answer many commonly asked questions and provide some how-to information. I'll also periodically add informal audio talks and PDF downloads of articles and information.

A lot has been going on in my personal life this year. It's slowed down getting my books out, and the speed with which I have been able to add information (such as to the new "Hot Research" page) to the site. I'm hoping things will settle down and improve soon. In the meanwhile, I appreciate everyone's patience and support.

My Services

I am involved in many things, not counting cooking, computer trouble-shooting, web design, and art (painting, cartooning, illustrations, sculpture), all of which I do for fun. Although I used to show and sell my paintings and sculpture in the past, I found that I started creating pieces that I knew would sell, instead of what appealed to me, so I stopped. Now when I do artwork, I do it for me. Likewise, I spent time doing psychic reads by tarot and over the telephone in the past, but found it wasn't really fun--it was too much work. Now I only do reads for friends or to aid me in my work as a parapsychologist.

People may notice the MD after my name and wonder about this. I'm a Board-certified Anesthesiologist. Although I still practice here in the Bay Area, this facet of my life is gradually diminishing as I turn an increasing amount of my time and energy to writing.

  I have written on a variety of paranormal topics, including mind-matter interaction, experiential research, place memory, and the afterlife. I currently have three books out and chapters in two anthologies edited by Michael Thalbourne and Lance Storm. These are:

• Media Expert:
  I am an expert on mind-matter interaction (sometimes called psychokinesis) and psi experiential research with experience working with radio and television shows (both as a psychic and as a parapsychologist).  I am often happy to consult for free in advance, but typically charge a small fee for actual appearances. • Paranormal Consultant:
  I have been working with Loyd Auerbach and the Office of Paranormal Investigations since 1996.  I have been involved with cases with them (both as a psychic and as a parapsychologist) at the Pelican Inn, Moss Beach Distillery, Brookdale Lodge, and U.S.S. Hornet museum.

  Haunting investigations are best done in person.  If you have a case in the greater Bay Area of California, I will let the Office of Paranormal Investigation know about it and we may be able to assist you.  They sometimes charge a fee to cover expenses. If so, this would be negotiated in advance.

  Although I prefer working a parapsychologist, I sometimes also act in the capacity of a psychic, participating in haunting investigations as part of the Office of Paranormal Investigations or with television crews. I find it very useful to be able to add what I learn intuitively to what my equipment is telling me.
