Lens Dust
Finally – a real ghost,
and single orb in the darkness of night … ? Nope. That orb is a speck of
dust on the camera lens lit by the camera flash

Leaves
These are the maple leaves responsible for the above phote. The leaves are a little wet (it had rained), so
their reflectivity is enhanced.

Movement Artifact
this image is the result of a flash artifact from camera movement in low-light conditions -- and trust me, the camera doesn't have to move very much. In essence, the flash cycle was too short for the needed exposure time. The area in the center, where the flash is brightest, had the equivalent of a double exposure while the outer edges were less sensitive to the slight camera movement after the flash had finished (but the aperture was still open).

Sun Artifact
I pointed the camera at the sun. You can get some awesome reflection artifacts this way, as you see here.

Orb
Back at Alcatraz, this time with a reflection artifact from the streetlight. It makes a perfect 'orb.' And all without ghosts....

More artifacts
Taking pictures outdoors in dusty environments will give you some great fake 'orbs.'
